Dave Johnson is a self-described business junkie who thrives on continuous improvement.
“I can’t imagine selling everything ... and just managing my own money in an ivory tower somewhere,” he said.
The serial entrepreneur is involved in three businesses: He founded restaurant/entertainment venue Chicken N Pickle as well as Maxus Properties Inc., now known as Maxus REIT. He also is the controlling shareholder of First Missouri Bank.
“Maybe to a fault, in all the businesses I am in, I look for bad things and how do you make them better?” Johnson said.
It’s a lesson he learned from mentor Al Hagemann, who previously led the tax division at one of the “Big Five” accounting firms, Arthur Andersen & Co. Clients aren’t impressed with a list of problems — they also want solutions.
“So many people in the world stop when they find the problem, and they think they’ve done something, but they haven’t,” said Johnson, who previously was a senior tax manager at Arthur Andersen.

The plan for the newly renovated space includes: a sprawling lawn full of family-friendly outdoor games and activities under the charm of string lights, their iconic taco truck, and much more.
“We are thrilled to join everyone’s favorite neighborhood and serve the Corinth Square community with our delicious street-style tacos,” says Local Restaurateur and Owner, Whitney VinZant of BRGR and Louie’s Wine Dive, “We hope to bring a fun atmosphere for families and friends to enjoy together for years to come.”

Guess what?!? LMConnect is celebrating our FIVE year Anniversary!
It’s mind blowing how fast the years have gone.
LMConnect was born when a few special people in my life gave me a nudge (and the confidence) to take the leap and start my own company. It was never the master plan to start my own company, by myself. My favorite part of all of my previous jobs has been the relationships that have been made along the way, work friends quickly turned into roommates, baby shower guests, soccer-mom friends, and workout buddies.
Many of these friends are also now clients, day to day ride-or-dies, or go-to partners that help make all of our events and marketing plans more fun and meaningful.
After 20+ years of working in KC, I am blessed to say I know a great group of in-the-know-go-to-experts that make any job we are working on better, by partnering with people that are the best at what they do. True influencers before there were influencers.
Connecting is what makes each and every day so fun and makes our jobs never feel like work- even when 4 am seems like a reasonable hour to be emailing.

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. – Hudson Hawk Barber & Shop is bringing its traditional neighborhood barbershop to Corinth Square Shopping Centre.
The new location in Prairie Village, which is scheduled to open Monday, Feb. 12 will be the company’s seventh in the Midwest and the first outside of Missouri.
Hudson Hawk offers a traditional experience with a modern edge in style and design. The company was founded in Springfield, Mo., in 2013 with a dedication to quality, a shop that is comfortable and service that is welcoming to men of all career types and ages. The shop prides itself on ensuring the ambiance provides music, magazines, products, and “conversation that is suitable for a grandfather to sit next to his grandson for a haircut,” said Paul Catlett, one of the company’s founders.
The new shop will be located at 8235 Corinth Mall next door to Made in KC.
“We work hard to balance tradition with what's current, and that balance attracts men of all ages to our shops. We like to say that we are a barber shop for all generations,” said Thad Forrester, co-founder of Hudson Hawk.
The shop offers haircuts, hot lather neck shaves, essential oil infused steam towel treatments, vibrating shoulder massage, straight razor shave, aftershave application, waxing, beard grooming, several lines of men's grooming products, and more.
